Week 4:Words of Inspiration and Motivation

From Video:
Louise Derman-Parks: "My passion is that all children are taught in environments and in ways that truly nurture their ability to grow and develop."
"The passion to create a safer and a more just world for all kids till I die or even after I die, I hope."
Raymond Hermandez: "It is what motivates me to want to wrok harder, to see how much more we can add to our program and how as an adminstrator, I can support my staff and what they do."

The two people I picked from the five sectors:
Lyndon B. Johnson Headstart: "Education is not the problem. Education is an opportunity."
"We must open the door os opportunity, but we must also equip our people to walk through those doors."
Lilian Katz, Ph.D.,Public Early Childhood Education: "Each of us must come about everyone else's children." "We must recognize that the welfare of our children is intimately linked to the welfare of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. If one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will be responsible for the violent act. The good life for our own children can be secured only if a good life is also secured for all other people's children."

  1. I believe in Louise Derman-Sparks passion. In my classroom, I provide my students with a nuturing environment. I also provide opportunities for my students to engage in exploratory play and hands-on experiances.

President Johnson layed the foundation for early interventions for young learners. He knew in order to establish a literate populace we need adults who can contribute to our society in a positive manner. Early literacy skills is an essential key to future learning.
